I currently have 250GB dual booting win7 and ubuntu 9.10 which is working fine. I'm considering buying another hdd for RAID0 for transfer speed improvement (not too concerned with redundancy, I have regular backups).
But with the prices these days I might as well go for 500GB hdd, and usually raid is used with same size disks.
To have both win7 and ubuntu on the raid I'm limited to fakeraid. Can I somehow make the second half of the 500GB disk available for use outside the array? Or is it completely lost? Has anyone tried it?
I don't want to buy the disk just to try so I would appreciate any feedback or ideas.
I know I could install win7 outside the raid and in that case I could use software raid for ubuntu which works great, but the first option is to have both OS on the raid.
Thanks.
