View Full Version : [ubuntu] GIMP Problem

Hello Fellow Newbies,

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this. I got my Freak Box from Free Geek in Portland,Oregon. It came installed with Ubuntu and GIMP. So therefore, Ubuntu and GIMP must commonly go together I figure. And so many of you probably know GIMP.

The problem: On a single layer with a white background, how do you move a line drawing around within that same single layer without moving the whole layer and without leaving a big hole in the layer exposing all that checkerboard business?

One of the things I dislike about GIMP, you can't select the layer you want to work on in the layers menu, you have to click and drag on a visible part of the layer you want moved.

If you had a layer with only one pixel on it, and you wanted to move that one pixel, you would have to click and drag on the pixel. So if you want to move the line, click and drag on the line.

Whoops, you said on a single layer project. Sorry. My suggestion is place the line on a separate layer.
