Have a look at the compiz place plugin if you use compiz; else, check out devilspie.

Thanks! I was looking in all the wrong places and missed the obvious, haha.

Anyway, you were right. I got Windows to behave like I wanted to in the CompizConfig settings manager > Window Management > Place Windows > Placement Mode > Centered.

I got Windows to behave like I wanted to in the CompizConfig settings manager > Window Management > Place Windows > Placement Mode > Centered.
That is the setting I have but it's not behaving. Any ideas how to fix it?
