Hello everyone,

I am running a netbook and would like to try out some different window managers for my ubuntu 9.10 install. When I looked in the Software center I couldn't find any of the wm I wanted: ie Ubuntu netbook remix, KDE4, etc.

Where do I find these and how do I install them on my machine?

Thanks

i think you mean desktop environments eg kde , xfce , lxde etc.
window managers are the likes of compiz , metacity and kwin etc.

this site will tell you how to install a different desktop environment http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/index

You do not have to install the whole of kubuntu to try kde.

Similarly you do not have to install the whole of xubuntu to try xfce.

sudo apt-get install xfce4

sudo apt-get install kde-minimal

and optionally
sudo apt-get install kdeplasma-addons
