installation not at all starting !!!please help

After putting the ubuntu 9.10 cd inside cd drive and restarted the system. The frustrating thing is , the installation is not at all starting ..just a blank screen with cursor blinking at the top right corner of the screen..and if i pres any key only a beep sound is coming!!!!

Is your CD drive part of your boot sequence? If not, you may need to go into the BIOS and set it.

yes i gave cd drive the first preference in bios settings !!!! please helpmee
