I read about it last week...
I don't think it is a good idea, but it doesn't concern me much as I have been on chromium for months

Interesting, but not a huge concern.
Any reason why they've changed to Yahoo?

I wish it had a bit more art put into it but I don't think it was a good idea to switch from Google to Yahoo.

Canonical is trying to get a little more money in their pockets is all. It really doesn't matter which engine they choose, in the end it's you the user that gets to decide.
Here is a short article about the changes from Ubuntu. https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel/2010-January/030065.html

I used Bing (which is Yahoo search) for a few days but it feels too simple and they always miss stuff that I could find with Google.
Not that I like Google, I think they are too big now...

I kinda don't care about this since I always change my browser to an uncommon search engine, anyways.

Well, I'll change that immediately after install. Yahoo is crap and always has been, but it's not that hard to change your startup page, nor your search engines.
