The thrill of Google buzz wore off.

I turned Google buzz off! Do you turn Google buzz off or leave it on?

Mine's off. Should have been off when I clicked "Nah, take me to my inbox". Feedback was sent.

If you try to view someone who just followed you's "following" or "followed", you get a nice DHTML pop-up that you can't close with the message "this information is currently unavailable" or whatever.

Turned off mine almost straight away.

I wouldn't mind were it a seperate service that was optional whether you could use it, but the fact that its enabled by default is annoying.

I have turned it off, but I wonder if that actually stops it from functioning, or just keeps us from seeing it?

You can delete your facebook account.

You can delete your facebook account.

Really? Tell me. All I see in account settings is a "Deactivate Account."

It's a non-starter for me - I have no interest in Google Buzz, or Facebook, or Twitter, or any of the other social networking thingees.

(Since I don't have any profiles built on either of my Gmail accounts, I just opted out at the bottom of each page. I hope that was enough to make it go away...)

Frankly, the only thing I am interested in right now, is to hear those famous springtime words:

"Pitchers and catchers report."

I agree. I deactivated my Facebook account several years ago. Then last year, many of my friends were using it so I decided to try it, again. I looked at it with my old username and password and it asked me if I wanted to reactivate my account. I did and it came right back.

So, I'm just saying, Facebook accounts are not deleted.

Yup.The account isn't deleted but you can par it down to a minimum either manually (which can be time consuming) or by using this handy online tool:

Too busy on suicide machine, and the tutorial to delete the account they give you isn't working, it says "Something went wrong" no matter what password I put in.

Well, I finally submitted the suicide machine thing, but then this black box appears and says "movie not loaded" when I right-click it.

Stupid flash dependencies.

Like I said above you. It said "Something went wrong" no matter what password I put in.

Doesn't matter anymore, did the suicide thing.

Well the suicide thing is just as good. Weird though, the link I posted worked for me once not so long ago.

Dear god, having four Gmail accounts all with Buzz activated was really annoying. Even when you click "Nah, Go To My Inbox" the thing is still on. They should have done it as an opt-in, no messing about then.

That is a big part of the reason people get annoyed with Google. They just do a whole bunch of stuff without asking and the users, if they don't like something, have to deal with cleaning it up. For example, on Windows at any rate, Google Earth and Chrome just update themselves, totally automatically.

Some people may love this, but others, like me, want to control their own experiences.
