I've installed Ubuntu on my PS3 system, and when I play a DVD video using VLC the video is striped with green vertical bars. Naturally, i can't watch it like this, so I also tried Movie Player, which frezzes up alot, so then I tried Kaffine, which failed to work at all! Every video player I know is useless when it comes to playing some DVDs on my PS3, (I say some because others work fine, and no, there's nothing wrong with the DVDs thereselves) if this happened to you too, can you please tell me what to do?

Hi,
You can try a quick fix for this in VLC:

When the video is playing,

1. Select Video menu

2. Navigate to "Deinterlace"

3. Select "discard" or "mean" Deinterlacing sometimes solves such issues. If it still doesn't work, you can check if it's a driver problem or a problem with the display settings. If it's a display settings problem, check this link out: http://psubuntu.com/wiki/SetupMonitor
