Does anyone have experience in using the MIDI interface Cakewalk (Roland) UM-2G with Ubuntu? This would be my first MIDI interface. Any other recommendations?

Thanks!

Hello conchyliferous, from the Roland site:

Standard OS-based driver mode for instant connection to computers even when drivers are not available
So it is supposed to work out of the box in Standard driver mode. Don't know about Advanced mode.

Yes I saw that. Sadly "Standard OS" often means Windows anyway.

Do you know what "advanced mode" means?

From the Roland site:

FPT (Fast Processing Technology) for ultra-low latency and fast, stable MIDI transmission
You can't use that in Standard OS-based driver mode. And 'Standard OS-based driver' means that this device works with a generic driver. Linux has such a generic driver, Ubuntu has it by default.
