View Full Version : [gnome] Missing menu and application bars in my desktop

I changed the settings of my menu and application bars, I wanted to hide them automatically, etc. At a certain point, it stopped working while I was changing the position of one of the bars from lower to upper side.

Ok, then I restarted, and since then I can see no more any of the bars, so I cannot open any application nor doing anything!

I tried creating an empty file on the Desktop then opening it with gnome-terminal to at least have te terminal open and try to fix it but... how?

Any ideas?

If I execute:

$ gnome-panel

I get this error:

Cannot register the panel shell: there is already one running

I am completely lost! (and kind of sick of Ubuntu Karmic Koala :()

Glad you are sorted.

Don't get too disheartened, there's usually a fix for whatever issue(s) you have, it might be a forum post, internet search, man page or whatever, all you have to do is find it.
