Hello all,
Long time lurker, first time poster...
I've been having issues with gnome-panel under karmic.
When I upgraded from Jaunty, a second volume control icon appeared in the panel. After I right clicked to remove it, the panel went into a continuous loop of refreshing then exiting. The focus changed to the panel on each refresh, making it almost impossible to select or click on anything. This happened even after a reset.
I did a clean install, but now the same issue has occured again. I've managed to ctrl-alt-f1 and kill the panel, but when I return to the desktop and relaunch from the terminal I get the following error:
** (gnome-panel:16719): DEBUG: Initialized Panel Applet Signaler.
** (gnome-panel:16719): DEBUG: Adding applet 0.

The program 'gnome-panel' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
(Details: serial 2865 error_code 8 request_code 1 minor_code 0)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
I noted the error regarding my current theme, however, this wasn't installed last time around, so I think this can be ruled out. dpkg-reconfigure gnome-panel does not solve the issue.
Does anyone know of any fixes for this, before I start deleting my .gnome folders / reinstalling again?
Cheers!
