mac feature: can I get a quick view of docs/pics by pressing space

I've always liked this feature from the mac world: simply press space to get a quick view of a specific document or picture or some other file.
Can a similar feature be set up in Ubuntu?

You can install Gloobus. Unfortunately it's not in the ubuntu repositories. But there is a launchpad ppa, that even installs a patch for nautilus, so that you it works (almost) like in Mac OS X.

Sometimes it simply doesn't work or takes forever to open large files. As it's not even version 1.0, it can be considered beta quality.
