So i used wubi to install ubuntu 910 on my laptop, and it works fine. its great. installs into a directory.

the laptop is a dell 700m 1.7m 1gig ram 80 gig hitachi.

no driver problems what so ever.

now... i tried to install ubuntu on my desktop with little avail.

when i use wubi, the file that wubi is trying to download is the amd64 bit version and my computer is a pentium D.

is that strange?

or is that how its supposed to be????

when i use wubi, the file that wubi is trying to download is the amd64 bit version and my computer is a pentium D.

From Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentium_D):

The Pentium D[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentium_D#cite_note-1) brand refers to two series of desktop dual-core (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dual-core) 64-bit (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/64-bit) x86 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X86) processors (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CPU) with the NetBurst (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NetBurst) microarchitecture (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microarchitecture) manufactured by Intel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Corporation).

So it is weird? In short, no.

O_O Yeah, didn't sound like it to me, either. I would try the 32-bit version just to be safe.

However, we don't really know what 'to little avail' means. Could you be specific about what is preventing you from installing it? Is there an error message, does Wubi freeze? Perhaps I misunderstood your premise.
