can you spare a taco

ok this is my first post on a forum so im sorry if i **** up, i just installed ubunto 9.10, everytime i try to install anything like vlc or wine, it tells me missing dependencys then it list the files and says file found but will not b installed, i tried looking for them individualy, but the same thing happans win i look for the individual missing dependencys, ive tried thru terminal, synaptic package manager and add/remove, can someone plz help only thing i could think of was something with the respositories or with my settings.
