Once completed, the idea is to have a site dedicated to College of Marin students selling and purchasing used books to and from each other directly.

Typically, College of Marin's official bookstore offers to purchase books back from students at half of the new cost. They then mark the book up, and sell it at a price between full and half.

For example, a $100 text book could be sold back to the school for $50. The school will then sell that book to another student for $80, thus securing a tidy $30 profit for themselves.

Let's cut out that middle man.

Instead, what if one student offered to sell that same used book directly to another student for $65? The first student gets $15 more than the school would be willing to pay for it, and the second student saves $15.

This website is intended to help facilitate that. The management of this website, me, will not be taking a cut. All transactions will be encouraged to be conducted on campus, face-to-face, and in cash.

the website has gone from concept in my head to what you now see in about 3 hours, so i realize it doesn't look very refined right now. please forgive.

craigslist.org is nice, but its a pain sifting through everything to find what you want. ive tried it. this will be purely local and purely dedicated to one thing: community college students helping each other save money by facilitating the transfer of books from one to another.

When I was in college, my university offered free wiki and forum hosting to students. Check yours?

No experience, but you could e.g. host it in India. The currency is very low (e.g. 2GB = 64 USD a year (http://www.webcomindia.net/)). They usually have English-language service too.

Indeed you should check also the hosting service your university offers, but probably, it won't be that much space (in my case, 1 GB), so estimate how much space you'll need (and bandwidth).

Your mom's site has stuff about your birthday, what did you wish for? You were at it for a while.

Okay, fine. To be honest, I can't remember what I wished for.

However, the same birthday is coming again April 14th, and I'll be 17. Ask me then.

Oh man, we have almost the same birthday. I'm on the 18th, though. And I'll be turning 19.

Instead of google sites for 'the about' and google groups for the actual ads, perhaps you could use Wordpress with this (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-classified/) plugin for better integration. Even at peak traffic, this will be a low traffic site, so you might aswel look for free webhosts.
