Hi all,

Small rant + I'm looking for opinions,

I'm just wondering and it might just be me but does the totem volume controller annoy you at all?

The main problem being that the volume bar is vertical instead of horizontal, this means you have to click a button then move the level of volume,(often this will bug out and appear below the screen in full screen mode and sometimes not grab the click exactly so you are clicking slightly above it to get it to move) instead of what appears to be every single other media player on the planet which has it horizontal.

Horizontal:

It's competing with Windows Media Player 6 (windows 95) in terms of looks as well, is this the best we can do for a default media player?

Does not bother me. Why? I leave it at 100% volume all the time. Then I use my keyboard volume control to adjust my computer's volume.

Not one of those examples you posted are native GTK+ applications. Quite a few GTK+ programs use a Volume Button (Rhythmbox, Banshee, Listen, etc.). Therefore it stays consistent.

I've never understood this "it doesn't look good" *. It looks consistent with other applications and its fairly clean so the interface doesn't get in the way... I'd say thats the definition of looking good.

* This isn't specifically targetted at the OP. I've seen the same things said about Rhythmbox in previous threads.

AH! That's why!

Audacious2 looks good, totem does not.

Looks like Winamp. So for me...it's ugly. Glad you like it though. :-)
