Hi,

AutoWifi is a pygtk app (packed with the marvelous quickly), which stays in the systray, waiting for known SSID (of free hostspots), and doing the authentification process (web-based one only) in the background : letting you access to webpages withouth the hassle of filling webforms.

When an known SSID is reached for the first time, autowifi will prompt you in a gtk dialog for your account. If your account is good, it will never prompt you again. (accounts are saved according xdg/freedesktop).

It's plugin'able : so it's easy to developp a plugin for managing a kind of free hotspots. Plugins use python-twill to do the http stuff.

It's released under GPL2 terms, and works for FON hotspots and FreeWifi hotspots. It's a young project, but seems to work for everyone. It's available for karmic thru a Launchpad/PPA.

More infos : http://www.manatlan.com/page/autowifi

I'm looking for testers outside of europe (for fon spots)
Perhaps some developpers could build plugins for other known free hotspots (mc donalds one, ...), to complete the collection.
others ideas are welcome ...

Has anyone written a plugin for Fon in the UK? There are three SSID's used BTFON, BTOpenzone-H and BTOpenzone.

I'm interested in a plugin for T-Mobile/Telekom hotspots in Germany. I can help providing some info, or could you give an overview how to develop an own plugin?

Thanks in advance,
Whoopie
