I have downloaded ubuntu 9.1 and burned it onto a cd at 8x. I boot off the cd and I choose english and then select install. It goes through and I see the ubuntu symbol and all of a sudden it flashes and my monitor goes black and says input not supported. I have a nvidia geforce 7300. Anyone know why this is happening??

Thanks

Boot the Live CD and choose 'check disk for defects" at the menu. if the disk checks out ok, then hit F4 at the menu and choose safe graphics mode. See here (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BootOptions) for more info on that.

The only thing I can think of is using the alternate text based installer (http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/downloadmirrors#alternate). it usually works when video problems won't run the Live CD.

It is unlikely that the problem is the monitor. More likely that something is not working the way it was intended with the graphics card drivers.
