Hey, been using ubuntu for a short while and wondering this. I saw a video with a ubuntu based distro called, Crunchbang Linux. And I saw they have a really cool panel where everything used is instead small icons. So been wanting to get it for myself in ubuntu, however I don't know what it is called nor how to gain it.
Plus Crunchbang won't boot up with my system.

Anyone care to help?

Thanks in advance !

AFAIK Crunchbang uses tint2. You can install it from the package manager.

Tint2 doesn't have any configuratio tool, so any configuration is done by editing it's config file (~/.config/tint2/tint2rc) by hand. You'll find some instructions frok Tin2's web site: http://code.google.com/p/tint2/wiki/Configure.

Also note that Tint2 is not a fll-blown panel, so you can't use any of the panel applets you'd run in Gnome-Panel with it. And it doesn't have any support for menus either. If all you want is a tasklist with only icons, there are some Gnome-Panel applets available for that purpose. DocBarX, for example.

Also, #!Crunchbang/Linux is an Ubuntu-based distro.

http://crunchbanglinux.org/

It uses Openbox as the desktop environment, Nitrogen as the file manager and tint2 as the panel. (if my memory serves me right)

They have a great Forum and Wiki page in #!Crunchbang. After all, they are using Ubuntu 9.04 as the base. Very fast and stable, and highly customizable.

I'm not here to promote #! ... but they are worth checking out.

No problems, well to remind my statement, I couldn't boot up crunch :)
So anyways got the config from their forums :)
Cheers !
