I want to partition my HP Pavillion DV 7 1260-US Laptop, for specs see link, http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documen...product=3860646 (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01634481&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3860646) ,and dual boot Ubuntu with Win 7. My system is as 64 bit operating system. Should I install the 64 bit version of Ubuntu? In the Ubuntu pocket guide he said there were some compatibility issues with the 64 bit system but I was thinking since there was been some time since that was written that maybe these have resolved.

So, I have run the live CD to check to see if there were any errors. Aside from not being able to directly install a flash player it all seemed OK. Is this one of the only problems I will have with the 64 bit OS or should I switch to the 32 bit version before I install???? I do not have any experience with Linux.

I have deleted all unnecessary files from my PC, error check the C disk and now I am defragging by tomorrow it should be done and I will be ready for the install. I think.

I am still very nervous and excited. Any suggestions on how to make this transition smother???

You shouldn't have any problems with 64bit. Flash and Skype are still unavailable, but there are workarounds. Both can be installed with 32bit libraries from the repositories, and flash 64 is available as alpha software.
