Downloaded the iso of ubuntu-9.10-netbook-remix-i386 on my desktop with both Windows XP and Ubuntu 9.10. In Windows I used Unetbutin to create a USB disk. In Ubuntu I used USB Startup Disk creator.
But neither stick lets me boot in Ubuntu on the netbook.
BIOS are set - "First Boot Device " to "Removable Dev" but each time I restart netbook, Atherosis starts Windows XP . At some point it said that I can install Ubuntu within Windows and it will let me boot either in Windows or Ubuntu without the need for partitioning and I thought to try this but an error came up.
Anyway, I would prefer to set aside some 30 GB for Ubuntu and have a dual boot.
Any help greatly appreciated - and pls keep in mind that I don't know too much!

I found additional info here :
http://www.jfwhome.com/2009/08/06/perfect-ubuntu-jaunty-on-the-asus-eeepc-1005ha-and-1008ha/

It's late today but will work on it tomorrow or Monday and let you know, unless somebody has has additional suggestions.

Thank you all!

I tried again to install using first one and then the other stick/

One sticks starts Ubuntu and lets me chose the language and afterwards says:
" (initramfs) mount: mounting /dev/loop1 on /cow failed: Invalid argument
Can not mount /dev/loop1 on /cow "

the other stick says:
" Could not find kernel image : linux "
Here are some pics:

I don't understand this. Hope somebody can lead me to the solution

for booting a 1005 ha with an usb device. First put in the usb device and then switch on the computer. press the esc buton while starting. you will get a small menu where you can choose from which drive you want to boot. Assuming your usb device is properly prepared. ;)

I have the same problem booting the usb-flashdisk.
" Can not mount /dev/loop1 on /cow"

is there a good solution for this? I can add that I'm running on a Sony Vaio VGN-P12Z/Q
