i can not install my mfc-990cw printer

i have no idea to how it is done and i only installed ubuntu today so am very new to this. please help, i will need step by step simple instructions if you are able to help.

The first thing I'd try is plugging it in with a USB cable, then go to the System -> Administration -> Printing tool. If it doesn't show up automatically, click the New button and follow the directions to try and add it.
