Okay so i've used this cd before to install it, i had the same problem before, but i forgot how i got it to go through.

I insert CD.
Ubuntu Menu pops up.
I choose Demo & Full installation.
I choose reboot now, and click finish.
Computer reboots.
I choose English.
I choose install ubuntu.
The Ubuntu loading icon shows, 30 seconds or so later, it takes me to a black screen with words scrolling down...
It finally stops and i end up at "init: tty1 respawning too fast stopped "

What should i do?
I really want Ubuntu and i want to delete XP off my computer, if i use the UnetBootin, will XP still be on my computer? Thanks.

First question is, can you tell us the specs of your computer?

Secondly, the CD: did you
check the md5sum before you burned it?
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM

burn at the slowest possible speed?

run the "check CD" option from the CD menu?

Microsoft Windows XP SP3 (Pro)
504MB Ram
Intel Celeron 3.06GHz

No i didn't check the md5sum, again i've installed from it before.

Burned at default speed.

Argh, damn it, did the check and there are two errors.

---Is there another way i can replace windows xp with ubuntu (permanently) without using a removable device?

Hi,
Sorry for the delay, I've been away.
If the CD isn't good, check the md5 sum. If that is ok, burn a new CD. Otherwise, download the CD again, burn it again, and check it again.

Another thing is that your RAM only just big enough. If you have trouble installing from a checked CD, try the alternate CD. It doesn't need as much RAM to run the installer.

You might also want to think about xubuntu on that machine.
