Hi. I'm new to Ubuntu, just started using 9.10 couple of months ago. I have a problem with Firefox. I'm using version 3.5.7 and from what I understand there are two versions of Firefox for Ubuntu, one developed and released by Mozilla and other one by Canonical. I am using the one which was instaled by default (Canonical version). I know that some time has to pass before Canonical releases it's version for Ubuntu - an update, and I also know that I could also just deinstall my current version and install Mozilla one. It's been some time now since Mozilla has released Firefox 3.6, and still i can't update my version 3.5.7 to 3.6. I haven't added any additional repositories and I have enabled all software sources, and set automatical updates and still I haven't got any notification of an update. I have also checked through Synaptic and the only one there listed is my curent version 3.5.7 as instaled.

I would like to know has Canonical released a update/new version for Firefox (3.5.7 -> 3.6) for Ubuntu 9.10, how to update/upgrade to it, and what is the diference between the two versions od Firefox (Mozilla vs. Canonical)?

I like to use Ubuntuzilla:

http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/ubuntuzilla/index.php?title=Main_Page

It works great with 32 bit (aka: i386), 64 bit takes some work.

There is also a small caveat with Karmic:

http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/ubuntuzilla/index.php?title=Main_Page#Java_plugin_not_showing_ up_.28on_Ubuntu_Karmic.29

The project is supported on these forums:

System > Administration > Software Sources > Updates > Unsupported Updates. That will get you the updated firefox when it is relased.
