I am trying to install Ubuntu for a friend onto his netbook using a USB drive; it boots fine, but when I get to the first screen that requires user input, the mouse and keyboard don't work so I can't even select the installation language, and thus can not continue any further.
I am using the 9.10 i386 desktop ISO. The Netbook Remix ISO doesn't want to boot from the USB drive for some reason. Do I NEED the Netbook remix ISO to have proper support, or is it just an interface overhaul?
