Hi,
I have a strange problem with Mathematica and Ubuntu 9.10 - when I initiate Mathematica through the launcher for the Frontend it brings the Gnome window manager down and logs me off. This has something to do with my hardware and the changes, possibly in the video card drivers, between 8.10 and 9.10.
The facts are -
1. No problems with Ubuntu 8.10 and Mathematica,
2. Ubuntu 9.10 and Mathematica work fine on other machines,
3. Happens with either version 7.0.0 or 7.0.1 of Mathematica
4. Hasn't happened with any other GUI application (so far),
5. The Mathematica kernel works OK in command line mode,
6. Installation of Ubuntu 9.10 done via CD.
I have a built-in VIA P4M800 chipset on a P4 Titan GA-8VM800M series motherboard.
I have a strace output running the launcher if anyone is interested.
Does anyone know what might be the cause of this, and better still a fix?
