Read that a google account got broken in through EI. Thus looking for another search engine.

Ixquick (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1389589) may be one to consider although not in synaptic the privacy policy may appeal to you.

Here are two is one more. You'll have to check if they are acceptable:

Uh, Yahoo, Bing, and a boatload of others. Not really sure this should qualify as a serious question when the answer is so easily found by, well, googling.

@ rookcifer : those you named are both front ends for wolfram alpha (http://www.wolframalpha.com/). It was kind of interesting how it was choked out of media coverage for months until it signed the advertising deal with Microsoft. It was an interesting idea, but now looks to have no future. It's top-level UI, Yahoo, is just a UI for it via Microsoft's UI for it. Very recently Yahoo even sold off its jobs site to Monster, so there's hardly anything left there to make it worth mentioning except for historical purposes. Money piped through Yahoo/Bing/Alpha will get fed back into fighting Ubuntu, Linux and FOSS in general.

So the list of alternatives to Google is still rather short:
