installing ubuntu with external drive

Hello,

I have a notebook with an external HDD. Is it best to leave the external harddrive unplugged during installation to avoid any conflicts?

It shouldn't matter, but usually it would be better to have the external disconnected during install, unless you actually want to install to the ext hdd of course.
