For windows. I know it seems odd to be asking for this on the ubuntu forum but a lot of people on here seem pretty knowledgable.

I want something that has the functionality of Rhythmbox but maybe a little prettier. Definitely the same layout as rhythmbox.

I've tried Musikcube but I've been having a few issues with it.

I don't want WMP or iTunes or Winamp.

Thanks.

foobar.

Nothing comes close to functionality and the ability to customize its appearance dramatically. Small learning curve for the latter, but once you see, you will believe.

I tried to work with foobar, but it's just too much effort for me.

I'm perfectly happy with winamp. I love the fact that the library and playlist are separated, so I can browse the library while playing music, and add songs to the playlist. You can also rearrange the playlist and select songs to play after the current song finishes, without rearranging or changing the shuffle.

and it's what most bikeguiders recommended too ;)

Even iTunes is less bloated than Songbird

For a FOSS music player on Windows you have the choice of VLC, Songbird or aTunes. VLC is quite lightweight and can handle playlists, while the other two are more music library oriented, like Rhythmbox.

Yeah, but he says he wants something that looks kinda like rhythmbox, but isn't iTunes. That limits his options somewhat.

Call me a Mac hater, but why the heck would one use iTunes? Seriously

iTunes was made for Mac OS and I keep reading how it's bobbins on other platforms, so I would try it on Mac before throwing stones.

and on Windows foobar ftw

Please tell me you're kidding with a question like that.

Unless you have an ipod, itunes is not a very good program in my experience. It randomly removed all of the music from my girlfriend's computer that wasn't purchased through the iTunes store, for instance.

Right. I have an iPhone, so it's necessary for me. I've never had any issues with iTunes.

I tend to think that anything Apple related sucks/isn't worth by default :D
The "suck" part definately applies to Quicktime and iTunes, if you ask me. So don't ask if you don't like the answer :D

foobar2000 is the only windows app I wish it was ported to Linux.
Go Foobar! =D>

Thats why i said: "call me a mac hater" :p
But seriously; if it werent for syncing every piece of iHardware, WOULD you really use iTunes? Of course some would because they like it, but that does not make it a good app.
But chill out, lets go back to topic.

What about "Media Player Classic"? :p :lolflag:

iTunes wouldn't be so bad if it didn't convert all your music to acc, hog resources, make a bunch of startup entries, include the app store, play video's or not support wma files.

I want something that looks like rhythmbox at least. I'll leave the pretty bit out for now...

Decibel, Listen, and Banshee all look fairly similar to Rythmbox. I listed them from lightest to heaviest, by my estimation.

I just run VLC on everything. My Win7 desktop, my Linux desktop, and my "Ye Olde iMac" G5 running OS 10.4. Itunes just seems to bog it down and since I don't have any iHardware I don't really have a need for it.

atunes or jajuk?

I was going to say Winamp, however you mentioned that you do not want to use it. I say try VLC or Songbird. Songbird seemed decent to me, does it use Gstreamer only on Linux?

I would rather use a record player than any Apple product.
