View Full Version : VLC Media Player To Get Extensions Starting With Version 1.1

Ubuntu Karmic and Lucid users can download it from Web Upd8 PPA (don't forget to also download the x264 package).

Alternatively, add the PPA (although I recommend just downloading the packages manually):

I think the reason for this is to allow users to get some features they've always wanted, while the VLC devs will focus on other apps (such as VLMC).

Hi nilarimogard,

Building your own is much more fun :).

Actually this is probably the beginning of VLC jumping the shark. I'm finding that it's getting slower and more bloated, and the current releases have a nasty habit of skipping and freezing on videos that totem plays just fine (2 separate Karmic installs, tried from repo and 1.1 PPA). It's a shame too, VLC was awesome.
