I have an HP color laser printer and I am looking for a way to print black as black instead of using tri-color. For example If I print a document that has colored text then any black text is printed using the color cartridges rather then using black. I have been surviving by using windows XP in virtualbox but I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I've looked all over then net for a solution but I've found nothing. I remember having similar problems like this with older Macs because of postscript printing and I'm thinking this is the same problem but I don't know how to fix it. I've searched the forums as well but no joy. Thanks for any help

The following may work: remove all the ink supplies. Remove the print head and soak it for about 5 minutes in 0.5" of very hot water. Gently blot the print head on a soft damp paper towel to remove the excess water, then replace in the printer and then reinstall the ink supplies. get more help http://www.fixya.com/support/t704575-printer_not_printing_black_ink (http://www.fixya.com/support/t704575-printer_not_printing_black_ink)

Hope this helps you.

Good Luck!:)

Lol. You spend so much time answering but it's a shame you didn't read my post. It's a LASER printer not INK JET. If I soak the cartridge, game over.

Also, the issue is the driver. It uses the other 3 colors to make black and ignores the black cartridge. I wanted to know if any found a driver/pdd that works for printing true black.

Thanks anyway.

Not sure if this is related; this is for 3500/3600 model printers. https://bugs.launchpad.net/pxljr/+bug/777670 These issues report the errors, or color problems. If this effects you - you can simple click this bug effects me too. The more people this effects the more likely a developer will take a look at the issue.
