I'm about to build a new desktop and I want to put two hard drives in, one dedicated to Windows 7 and the other, Ubuntu. Which OS would you recommend installing first (or does it matter?) and how would I go about making sure that each OS gets its own drive? I remember the partitioning screen from previous Ubuntu installations, I just don't remember if it recognized certain drives or total disk space.

Thanks!

Install Windows first. Always easier that way.

When you install Ubuntu, be very careful during the partitioning phase that you do not accidentally install Ubuntu on the physical drive you have just installed Windows on.

for a less problematic install of the 2, windows should go first, as windows doesn't play nice with other os's it will wipe out grub.
