I can not boot into either OS. Grub failed on install. Could you all please assist me with booting back in to windows. From live Ubuntu CD I can see that all files are there, however it shows the disk to be unrecognized and unallocated. There is an X by the root folder of my C; drive. Windows recovery console can't fix it, windows install can't fix it, and windows repair can't fix it. I guess I need to reconfigure my boot drive properties to recognize the ntfs; I don't know what to do. I would like to boot back in to windows partition the drive correctly and start over , is this possible? Thanks a million-Janice.

If you use Karmic then for reinstalling grub see this. (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2) If you use version prior then Karmic then look this. (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=224351) If you want to reinstall ubuntu you don't need to correct any thing about Windows.Itstall new Ubuntu installation on top of old one.You will first delete existing Ubunmtu partition and on that free space install Ubuntu again.
