Does anybody know of a function or a way in open office where it can calculate the total principle to be paid over so much time. Id like to just feed a function data and let it give me back the end number. But it seems every OO function only wants to give back payments or interest variants.

There's a pretty extensive list of functions for TVAL calcs.

I'm not really understanding what you're looking for. Is it one of these formula:

It sounds like you're looking for an annunity.

If no luck, you can ask the OOo forum, you should find some help in the Calc forum (http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewforum.php?f=9).

Exactly what are you wanting to calculate. From my HP calculator you always need 4 of the five - i% per yr, PV, FV, pmt or n periods.

I have downloaded spreadsheets that calculate all those that match my calculator.
one site I just found -has both excel & openoffice
