I am running Ubuntu 9.10 with an AMD 64 architecture on a Dell Vostro 1000 machine.
When I boot my computer, about 1 out of 4 times it goes to a terminal login rather than the gui login. It stays there for about one minute and some and then blinks out and goes to the regular login, regardless if I logged in at the terminal or not. After that everything works fine as if nothing happened. I have no idea what I do in the previous session to set my computer up for this glitch, if anything.
I don't know if this has anything to do with anything, but when I suspend my computer more times than not it actually goes to hibernate, and I can't get it back from hibernate. I see the lights flash, and the computer makes sound like its waking up, but then it stops, my screen is blank, and I have to hold the power button down to shut the computer down.
