Anybody a watch enthusiast in here?

Anyone know if it's a good or decent watch, I'm looking for one with similar qualities, I could probably go up to 100$ if need be.

I've never had a watch that's lasted me more than a year. I always go to take the battery out and when the rear metal thing that holds the guts in is removed for the first time it never goes back into place as good as it did the originally. So it ends up falling out all the time, the guts fall out with it, and the watch gets ruined. Although, I've never spent more than $25 on a watch either.

If I ever get another watch again it's either going to be motion or wind up powered.

I uesd to get through a watch 1-2 years and now the only watch i use is Casio G Shock. I have 2 one ive had for 5 years and the other for 2 and they are still going not even a scratch on the glass..

I agree that a watch is something where you get what you paid for. However, these days my mobile phone has replaced my watch haha.

1. Under 20 euro, it breaks, and if it doesn't break it slowly looses or gains a few seconds each day till after a month you're out by a minute or two. Very annoying.
2. 20 euro to 30 euro - digital, these watches are as good at keeping time as ones that cost 1000 euro and they are usually water proof and have lights and alarms in them
3. over 30 euro, the same thing, but with more features and maybe cooler looking.

I've never bought anything in 3 or 4.

Like the person said, Casio are excellent, you might have to replace the strap after 5 years but i've never known them to stop working or loose time.

Ive dropped mine in a bucket of oil and a car drove over it not a scratch its still going best £55.00 ive ever spent .

If you want a cheap watch that is accurate and durable, go with a Casio that is solar powered and sets itself to an atomic clock, every night. If you want cheaper and durable, just go with a low-cost Casio G-Shock. Other excellent brands are Seiko and Citizen.

Moving up to a mechanical Swiss watch drives the price up, considerably. However, my Rolex has lasted me almost 30 years of daily wear and it is still accurate. It cost me $975 in 1982 and is now worth several times that amount. But, decent lower priced Swiss watches can be found. Try to find an Orient. I have heard of these being sold in the $100 to $200 range. And collectors who love multi-thousand dollar Swiss watches seem to say they are pretty good.

Solar-powered, radio-synchronised, two alarms and plenty of good features, not to mentions that it's titanium.
I find that good Quartz watches are better at keeping time than mechanical watches.

Indeed, I'm very much in love with it. Hasn't got a scratch on it yet, and totally waterproof down to at least 300 M, so it would survive your oil barrel easily :D

Yours is a nice anodized black it will look better once its got a few worn marks on it.
My favorite anodized colour is red I have a mag light in red 10years old nicely worn and a few scratches gives it character..

Tough (popular with the armed forces), good to 200 meters (and I have dived with it), glows in the dark (my arm might fall off in ten years) plus I find all sorts of uses besides diving for the timer.

Only niggle I've had is that it uses the MM-DD date format with no option of changing it.

When I first got it I quite enjoyed setting it a minute ahead, receiving the time from the radio transmitter and then watching the hands whizz round :popcorn:

Maybe I am mistaken, but I think I see G-Shocks from about $40 up. My Pathfinder Titanium was $400 but I paid about $250 for it. It has a pretty wide product range. But even the least expensive ones are pretty good watches.

Maybe I am mistaken, but I think I see G-Shocks from about $40 up.

The G-Shock DW9052-1V lists for $70, sells for around $35. Several models of G-Shock can be found for under $50.

That pretty much sums it up.

My watch is just over 20 Euro, I've had it for 3 -4 years, I had the battery changed 4 months ago, just checked, and it's still exactly on time. :D
It's an analog Quartz, no scratches, 5 bar waterproof. (probably only good for rainy weather)
