My config: PI945GZD motherboard
2 GB RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate
My processor supports 64 bit OS but I have not tried any. So should I download and use the 32 bit edition or the 64 bit edition.
I have sound blaster 5.1(not sound blaster 5.1 live). Would it work in ubuntu?
Thanks in advance.

May help you as you research

I'd try both (32 and 64).

Thanks for the reply. I would be trying the 64 bit.
Furthermore my sound card is not given in this list https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupportComponentsSoundCardsCreativeLabs
So what should I do?

If you have downloaded and burnt the liveCD, boot into it and go live session (TRY UBUNTU WITHOUT ANY CHANGES). Play around in live session and see how your hardware works.
