Another pointless competitive thread, inspired by the prog-rock thread. Who has the Shortest and Longest songs in their music library??

Rules:

1. It must be a commercially available song, not one you just made up yourself.
2. Those little into tags at the start of some albums don't count.
3. Tracks involving a "hidden track" after many minutes of silence don't count.

There is a prize for the winner, but you have to buy it yourself.

I'll start....

Short Song: **** Holster by Ben Folds Five - 28 sec

Long Song: Atom Heart Mother by Pink Floyd - 23 min 45 sec

Short song: Monty Python - Interlude 0:05

Long song: Miles Davis - Bitches Brew 26:59

The shortest song by an actual band is Foreword, by Linkin Park - 0:13
Depending on what you mean by "intro tag" my shortest song might actually be Stop, by Pink Floyd, clocking in at 30 seconds.

I think this is an awesome thread idea!

What if its a track that I just made up myself, but is also commercially available?

It's not my thread, but I say go for it.

I'm guessing that the first Orb fan that finds this thread will win the long song category. Blue Room is 39:57.

Fans of Jethro Tull might protest, though. Thick As a Brick is one song, just split in two for technical reasons. :)

Shortest:
Zelda Reorchestrated - Item Catch (0:04) Probably doesn't count, since it's not a commercial song, and it's more of a sound effect.
Daft Punk - On/Off (0:19)

Longest:
Dream Theater - Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence (42:something) That's split up into different tracks, though, so not sure if that counts.
The next longest I have is Symphony X - The Odyssey. It's 24:14.

The longest in my collection is Jeff Ward, The War of the Worlds:

Disc 1 The Eve of The War: 45:09
Disc 2 The Red Weed 49:53

Each disc is one track.

This would also fit in the prog rock thread. :)

Propagandhi- F**k- 0:04.
The Cure- Carnage Visors- 27:51

I think I have a copy of Brian Eno- Discrete Music with a track that is 30:00+ long on CD around here somewhere, but I'm not sure.

That doesnt count, there is a lot of tracks, they just blend into each other.

They are seamless, though, no breaks at all.

I have to admit I just checked the mp3 on my server, as most of my physical CD's are in storage.

Yeah, if it's in the wild for people to buy and/or download, then it's eligible.

No Napalm Death fans???

Hmmm... I don't know how it appears on CD, I still only have it on tape. (Yeah, I'm old!)
