Hey all,

I just installed Ubuntu 9.10 on my PC which is running Windows XP.

So it is a dual boot.

I installed Ubuntu 9.10 from within Windows XP, everything installed fine.

When restart the computer, in GRUB menu was Kernel 2.6.31-14 and it boots into Ubuntu just fine.

So i went to update manager to update the system, this update included the new Kernel 2.6.31-17

Updates installed fine and restart was prompted.

This time in GRUB i tried booting Ubuntu 9.10 using the new Kernel 2.6.31-17

but unfortunately the system just hangs on the ubuntu symbol and does not go any further. (does not load into login screen)

I restart computer and boot using Kernel 2.6.31-14 and everything works great !?

So i uninstalled Kernel 2.6.31.17 , but i would like to know what is causing the hanging.

Is there any terminal commands or log files i can search for ???

Could this be related to installing Ubuntu 9.10 from within Windows XP ??? (I think it uses wubi, but not sure if its changed to something new)

My hardware is:

ASUS P6T Deluxe V2
i7 920 CPU
Inno3d GTX275

If you need anymore info just ask.

thanks very much in advance.
