So when I try to install from the cd I get this, and when I press enter it goes back to the menu. Anyone an idea in how to install ubuntu with this issue?

Thanks

Did you MD5SU (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM)M the iso prior to burning it to CD?

Did you burn the iso as an image to CD at no more than 8x speed?

Did you choose "check disk for defects" when you booted your machine from it?

I would go through all of those as I suspect you have either a corrupted iso or a bad burn.

You're having more luck than me matey! I can't get my CD / DVD to boot on anything... and I've tried three different systems!

I'm re-downloading the ISO now to see if I can get any joy out of it; I've been searching for a guide but I can't find anything :( I actually work in IT so for the most part I know what I'm doing. This isn't half giving me a headache though!

Best of luck with it :)

....

this is an live cd issued from canonical (the which is shipped, with the nice cover and print)
so (correct me if I am wrong) this makes your point kind of moot?
- if not, no I did not md5sum the iso, and not sure what speed it is burned on
-- but I do know that this cd worked before (used it to install ubuntu on two other computers)
