Updated through Update Manager and cant login

Hi,

I updated my laptop to 9.04 today through the update manager and on the login scree it wants me to put username/password. I know what my password is because had to type it to start the update but I cant recall a user name. I've done some trial and error with no luck yet. Is there a way around this issue or am I hooped?

you user name might be the same as the home folder in that partition, if you boot to a live cd, and have a peek at the name of the home folder at least you may remember to see it if there is more then one, or doing sudo nautilus and having a peek at the soduers file may ring a bell?
