Hey all. I tried to open a tiff file which had LZW compression applied to it with horrible results. Gimp informed me it didn't recognize some kinds of files before it opened the tiff (XML files maybe? I didn't write it down), then when the photo opened, it looked washed out and the opacity seemed really low.
I remembered after the fact that the LZW algorithm is pantented. I just wondered if anyone has figured out a way to bypass this problem?
