I was wondering if anyone here has any pet rats? I just got two from a local breeder, and wanted to share.

Here are my two 8 week old females.

No.

I do, however, have pet cockroaches in my kitchen somewhere.

No.

I do, however, have pet cockroaches in my kitchen somewhere.

The last place I lived in with Mrs Lisati had a few of those. They did wonders for the microwave, the answering machine, and assorted other bits and pieces. One day we decided to give them a treat by feeding them insecticide - which did wonders for our fridge (we ended up buying a new one on hire purchase within a few hours).

And a couple of rats in Taiwan have been unsuccessfully trying to use my email server to send out spam.

p.s. My ugly mug was in the paper this morning, in my capacity as a witness to a house fire.

I almost feel like I have to defend myself.

Pet rats are as smart and trainable, if not, smarter than dogs. ;)

Anyway, rats are very fun pets, and they love people more than any dog I have ever met.

im not so sure trainability is the same as being smart. horses are clearly very trainable, and said to be among the dumbest domestic animals there are.

that being said, i had pet rats when i was a kid and thought they where great.

I've got 8 adult rats (2 males, 6 females) that I use as a breeding colony for my 15 snakes. Rotate a pair of females every 3 weeks or so and there is a neverending supply of food for my guys.

Rats are actually very personable little guys. Best of all the rodents IMO
