Hi,

I have just installed Ubuntu 9.10 in a desktop. I have some trouble installing stuff because my desktop won't resolve internet addresses. The computer should be registered in my office's domain, but I don't know how. I also need to go through a proxy, but yet, I don't know where to to set it up. Nevertheless, I do can go out to the internet within the browser. All I needed was to set the proxy preferences.

Using the net tools, tracing a route to www.google.com I can't go further then my gateway IP.

So my question would be, what do I need to setup so the update manager and apt-get command would actually find and retrieve packages and files to install?

Thanks in advance.

In order to join the domain I recommend following the steps listed here https://help.ubuntu.com/8.04/serverguide/C/likewise-open.html .
