I'm running Kdenlive 0.7.5 on ubuntu 9.10. I want to upgrade because it freezes when opening saved projects (I would try another video editor but this project is important, and I can't access it until kdenlive stops freezing).

The only problem here is that I'm new and very cautious about what I type into the command line, but grateful to anyone who could walk me through what to type into terminal in order to upgrade to kdenlive 0.7.6, or has experience with this particular issue.

It says here - http://kdenlive.org/user-manual/downloading-and-installing-kdenlive/pre-compiled-packages/ubuntu-packages (http://kdenlive.org/user-manual/downloading-and-installing-kdenlive/pre-compiled-packages/ubuntu-packages)

Before installing packages, make sure to uninstall any file from Kdenlive Builder Wizard in /usr/local, which interferes with packages.

Again, I'm already using Kdenlive 0.7.5, still the latest version according to Synaptic. What do I have to do to upgrade or open my .kdenlive file with crashing?

Thank you wise ones!
