Error unmounting: umount exited with exit code 1: helper failed with:
umount: only root can unmount /dev/sdc1 from /media/new movie storage
and this when i try to unmount

Error unmounting: umount exited with exit code 1: helper failed with:
umount: only root can unmount /dev/sdc1 from /media/new movie storage

You could try booting with the cd, Try Ubuntu option, open Gparted and format the 500GB like that if that's what you want. Of course, this will wipe out all data from the disk!
And how did you plan to move ubuntu, to create ext4 partitions on the 500GB disk and then image your ubuntu and restore on the new disk?

ill have to try that any reason this is happening and for the swap yeah something like that i found several ways to do it and you make it sound so easy:smile:
