Hey guys,

If you do art, design or any creative works and have a deviantArt account, why not join our new Ubuntu Artists group?

http://divajutta.com/doctormo/art/ubuntu-artists.png (http://ubuntu-artists.deviantart.com/)
http://ubuntu-artists.deviantart.com/

It's a place where anyone can post their UI designs, Anthropomorphic images, wallpapers and even awesome artwork that was created using Ubuntu. We want to showcase and get everyone artistic in the community together in one place.

It is open joining. You join as a contributor... everyone contributes :-)

I won't be contributing though. I just want to watch the club, like before when I joined any club.

If you don't want to join the group because your not a good artist, designer or you don't use Ubuntu, then become a Watcher (+deviantWatcher) button.

I don't see that button on the main page, I just see the join club button, which I've already pressed to join.

Also, deviantos-tans club on deviantart has most everyone go into a group called "members" within that group, so they can't actually contribute to the club.

It's true, the deviantos-tans group only has members. If you don't see the +devinantWatcher button, then are you sure your logged in and that you have an account? otherwise you may have to ask the deviantArt team for help, because I only run the group.

Yep, I'm logged in, but I'm not going to ask DA for help, takes about a week to do, and often times, they just give you nonsense or the roundabout, or just quote a FAQ that doesn't help.

Seem familiar? also, deviantos-tans didn't have a deviantwatch button either; though I already had them on my watch list before the club system came.

There is a deviantWatch button when I look at any group I'm not already a member of. Perhaps your already a member.

Wow! deviant art has groups now! after like 100 years of us asking for them, they finally get them and I don't even notice.

Anyway am I allowed to join even though I don't make anime? ;)

seriously though.. can we have a more neutral logo? It's automatically added to my page now and the picture... well I associate anime with cartoon child pornography that would otherwise be illegal.. I know that's not what it's about and i don't look down on it, that's my issue, that's just what I associate it with and I feel uncomfortable with the picture on my page!

RabbitWho: The Anime is the best art we got, if you can come up with better art, I'll of course add it in.

Of course you were only a member of 23 mins before exiting. Shame.

Very immature.
Art is a matter of taste, of course my own art is going to be more to my taste.

So yes, I do think it's better, but it wouldn't have any place in the logo either.

But the fact is animie is not neutral (and i definitely don't agree that it's the best you've got) but the ubuntu logo is, so why include that cartoon (which I can only assume is unfairly making fun of down syndrome sufferers) in the logo?

You know you were so rude in your post just there you can stick your club up your ****
Humanity indeed!

RabbitWho. I'm sorry your upset, but I wasn't rude. I was stating that we in the group have a limited set of works that we can _legally_ draw from.

Besides, making associations of Art's work to being like down syndrome and children is in it's self not exactly pleasant and your attitude does not really meet the standards of the code of conduct which the group is aiming to abide by.

ummm, I don't think he was trying to be rude (I also think it's sad that you associate manga/anime with porn, because that seriously is not what it is, just people turn it into that). I don't think the shame comment was sarcastic (although I can see how it could be misconstrued as such)

doctormo, did you know you can edit the permissions to make normal members able to contribute (that's how I have openartists setup)

hmm, maybe I should do the same for my club on the forum (doctormo's club and mine are affiliated)

The group looks nice! Right now I'm not really an artist but an artist wannabe, but maybe I'll join or add to deviantwatch...

I think the logo is awesome, I like anime :D And to be honest, associating anime with child pornography makes almost as much sense as associating electricity with Pokemon. o_O By the way, I see on your DA page that your favorite games are Final Fantasy and they are anime styled :D I love Final Fantasy VII and VIII :)

You're overreacting. He just said that the best art they have happens to be anime style, and if you have something that happens to be good (and art is not 100% subjective), then it will by all means be posted.

Anyway, lots of ubunchu fanart :P The guy who came up with it has lots of fans now!

We've got 5 new members and 2 new watchers. Thanks for everyone's attention! Hopefully we can get more people to have a look at the great artworks going on in the community.

Groups? Yes.

Group system? No.

SheezyArt has had a group system long before deviantart though.

yeah, there were groups and clubs, but they were nothing more than just deviantart accounts setup like groups (and using chats to help that too)

now they're not deviantart accounts, it's a groups system (as someone has stated before) which is used specifically for groups and also has special groups features (a lot different than using a deviant art account as a club account, seeing as you don't actually have to log into it to change something, and other reasons too)
