I have an old laptop running very slow on Windows XP with only a 20Gb hdd, no cdrom, Bios does not support booting from the flash drive. It is formatted NTFS. I tried unetbootin windows to install Dam small linux but but it did not see the hdd. I tried installing with a USB drive anyway but no luck. Is there a way to install one of the smaller distributions from JUST the network connection? I have been looking and looking for a how-:confused:to but none of them fits my particular situation.
Thanks,
Nordite

Hi, there's an old Howto ....
http://marc.herbert.free.fr/linux/win2linstall.html
A bit long in the tooth, but does have the requirements of no floppy / cdrom / usb device etc that you want.
when you get to the ubuntu part - I'd suggest getting xubuntu, it's designed for lower spec machines --> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xubuntu
Do drop me a PM as to how you get on, or feel free to, if you need a bit of help with the instructions and you're not getting a reply on this thread.
Regards,
Phill.
