Hello,

I have installed xubuntu Jaunty last week and up until now I have not been able to make VLC work.... :( When I try to open up VLC, I get the control panel for it however, when I try to open a DVD movie, the VLC screen would come up for about .5 of a second and then disappear. I have heard of Issues with VLC and jaunty and I have tried most solutions unfortunately none of them worked.

I have tried to install via ppa too. still did not work..

here is my is box

xubuntu 9.04
celeron D 2.66
512 MB RAM
64 MB shared video.

thanks,

Homer

I strongly suggest Elisa. Its a multi media center and it can play all your videos including DVD + many more, internet radio, youtube, etc.

Hi homer,

when I try to open a DVD movie, the VLC screen would come up for about .5 of a second and then disappear.

This is usually a sign that the default video out device selected by vlc does not work with your current system configuration. A simple test for this is to select another video out from:

Tools ---> Preferences ---> Video ---> Output

All the best,

Andrew
