View Full Version : [all variants] iPhone-like Desktop Environment

I was wondering if there is any desktop environment or software that is set up like that of an iPhone, in the aspect of how all applications, etc. are equally sized and spaced icons laid out on the screen. I think this would be pretty cool, especially on a touch screen tablet, or even just a netbook. Is there something already like this or a way to do this?

Thanks,

I'm sure we will see this environment on this product:

Yes, but the "Apple Tablet", if you will, doesn't run Ubuntu, or even a Linux distribution for that matter. I just realized that the Ubuntu Netbook Remix is close enough to what I was requesting anyway. Thanks for replying though.

Of course, you will only be able to run one app at a time.

"Yea, we got an app for that . . . ."

Ubuntu Netbook Remix (which I am currently running) could be similar to what you're looking for. It has an option to run either like normal Ubuntu, or to function on a (how shall I put this... table or menu-like system.

I don't know how customisable this feature is though. I stopped using it pretty quick after I installed!

Edit: "I just realized that the Ubuntu Netbook Remix is close enough to what I was requesting anyway." Whoops, didn't see that...
